Baldana Farm is an organic vegetable farm situated within the Johnson County Historic Poor Farm. Spanning three-quarters of an acre, our farm cultivates a diverse array of vegetables, including okra, cucumber, tomato, eggplant, hot pepper, watermelon, cantaloupe, arugula, radish, and molokhia. As we look towards the future, we are keen on expanding our vegetable varieties. With three years of experience in the industry, Baldana Farm previously collaborated with the Global Food Project to cultivate vegetables. Presently, our farm is deeply rooted in serving Johnson County residents and maintains a presence in three key markets: the Iowa City Farmers Market, the Field to Family online and wholesale markets, and the Iowa City Halal Food and Grocery. In addition to our commercial endeavors, Baldana Farm remains committed to serving our community by contributing to charities such as Tables to Tables, the Crisis Center, and the Sudanese Community Center. Baldana Farm is the sole farm owned by a member of the Sudanese Community specializing in large-scale vegetable production in the area. Such expertise plays a pivotal role in encouraging and assisting numerous Sudanese individuals in entering the field of farming, given their considerable experience in Sudan.
